Since the last post here was in May, I'm guessing we may not be taking advantage of this blog as well as we might, but I still like that it's here and that it has potential.
In November we met at Copper. Once again, I TOTALLY (thanks Karen - I realize, now, how oddly I say that) forgot to take notes. Go ahead and fire me.
Because our AP Capital stock was liquidated with the sale of the company (Mary - congrats on your continued employment!!!!!) we had over $1,000 in cash, even though we'd bought Hormel/Spam (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=HRL&ql=0) in October.
We discussed the fact that our portfolio is skewed beyond reason, but that we don't seem to care - it seems to be working for us and it's all a learning experience. We're in pretty high-risk stocks.
This month we agreed to purchase, with 1/3 of our assets, Emergent Biosolutions, which I've been watching for months and have wanted to have in the portfolio. They have grown and I've worried that this may be late in their curve, but analysts were calling it a buy/strong buy last week. This is another bio-tech company (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=EBS&ql=1).
We've held some cash for the eventuality of buying GM, though initial offerings are way out of our league. When normal purchases are possible, we're hoping to grab a dip after the initial rush. Mark will be on the lookout. We do need to decide if we're holding out for a certain purchase price, so we should take a look and watch it (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GM&ql=1).
We talked about how we're primarily intuitive in our decisions and jokingly mentioned a seance...which lead to asking Rosemary Taylor to come give us a reading. She seems excited by the interesting challenge.
So - on December 16, at 6:30 (any time after 5:30 you want to show up is fine) we'll meet and Rosemary is coming. Usual potluck festive holiday fun. Francie and I would like to have some format of gifty something and she's thinking about it. It will be low key.
Please let me know if I'm missing something. I know I'm WAY off in how much cash we had and opted to guess on the low side.
I am glad we're still meeting...gotta see you guys somehow. Mary - we miss you.
